Canadian Learning Centre’s Early Skills program introduces students to a fun and structured learning environment where they develop strong fine motor, visual perception, and cognitive skills. The program covers a variety of areas including numeric, letter recognition and phonetic awareness.
This is the perfect way to make sure that your child is ready for his or her first years of school. Why not allow your child to get a head start in life by developing the skills needed for them to learn and shine?
At Canadian Learning Centre, we provide your child with the skills that are essential for becoming independent learners. Our phonics-based programs are developed to bridge the gap between “learning to read” and “reading to learn”.
We begin by having an instructor work independently with your child in order to specify what areas of reading he or she may be struggling in. Our instructors thoroughly assess all areas critical to building excellent reading skills, including:
- Letter and letter sound recognition
- Short and long vowels
- Consonant blends
- Consonant clusters
- Silent letters
- Basic site vocabulary
After in-depth analysis, we build a reading program tailored specifically for the student. The student receives one–on-one attention from a teacher as they work through this program ensuring that he or she gains a thorough understanding of these crucial reading skills. With practice and encouragement, your child will not only become more confident in his or her reading ability, but also enjoy reading!
Academic Reading Level I – For students in elementary school up to grade 8
Our customized reading program incorporates vocabulary, comprehension, spelling and higher-level critical thinking skills to help your child improve their grades, confidence and self-esteem.
This reading program is designed to increase your child’s comprehension ability and improve his or her language skills. We begin with an in-depth assessment that allows us to determine which essential reading skills your child is struggling with and what level he or she is functioning at. Because every student’s assessment results are different, so are their programs. We customize a program specifically for your child to addresses his or her unique reading and comprehension problems.
Academic Reading Level II – For High school students
We at Canadian Learning Centre recognize how important high school academics are to a student’s future. At this point in your child’s education, it is imperative that he or she has a good understanding of essential reading and comprehension skills, and an exceptional command over the English language. This is why we have designed a reading comprehension program that not only addresses these areas but also teaches higher-level critical thinking skills.
At Canadian Learning Centre we start by assessing your child in order to determine his or her proficiency in all reading-comprehension related skills. This assessment helps us to determine exactly what skills he or she is struggling with and when the problem started. We then use these results to build a reading-comprehension program specifically tailored to your child’s needs.
Each section of the program incorporates a variety of high school level resources, which not only increase your child’s reading ability, but also teach them to think critically, form opinions, and draw conclusions.
By focusing on grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and essay writing mechanics, paragraph structure, information management and editing skills, our Writing Program helps students to become expressive writers.
Students bridge the gap between thinking about an idea and effectively writing about it.
